Tasks of the Working Group Information and Communication Technology (AK IK)
The Working Group Information and Communication Technology has the task of protecting uniformity as seen from the sectors of information and communication technology within a spatial data infrastructure. This includes the following issues:

Coordination of the development of technical applications regarding aspects of information technology
- Principles of spatial basic information systems
- System architecture (hardware, system software, application software, networks)
- GIS technology and internet technology

Maintenance and further development of the AAA application schema
- Coordination in the field of information technology
- Data model, AAA basic schema
- Data exchange, norm based data exchange interface (NAS)
- Data modelling conformant with the AAA application schema and integration of technical information systems
- Documentation, GeoInfoDok (documentation of the official basic geodata)

Observation, development and recommendation of standards and norms
- Standards and norms in the context of geoinformation (DIN, CEN, ISO, OGC)
- Specifications for services (metadata, visualization, evaluation, access)
- Consultation with other standardisation initiatives in Germany (KooPADV, SAGA, OSCI)

Spatial data infrastructure - aspects of information technology
- Recommendation of standardized services for basic geodata and technical geodata (application profiles for geo services)
- Coordination of aspects of information technology in the field of spatial data infrastructure within the AdV
- Coordination of aspects of information technology in the field of spatial data infrastructure on national and international level on behalf of AdV (GDI-DE, INSPIRE)
